A pacy and strong striker, local lad Ben had been with the Palace academy since the age of 14 after first joining the club as a right-sided winger.
However, a positional change after the start of the 2006/07 season saw him moved to centre forward and he hasn't looked back since, netting 14 goals in only 16 games after September when he made the switch.
His performances for both the Under 18 and reserve team during the season saw him rewarded with his first professional contract for the 2007/08 season and he travelled with the squad for the first time to Preston in March of that season.
Not only is Ben quick off the mark, but he is also powerful in the air and has all of the attributes to go on and become a dangerous forward for the Eagles.
