José in action with the Palace Mitre football |
The start of the new football season is always an exciting time for fans - new players in the squad, new hopes and aspirations for the campaign and most importantly a new football to be played with.
For the 2007 / 08 Championship season Mitre, the official ball suppliers to the Football League, have developed a world football first - a bespoke ball for each of the 24 clubs in the league.
To help launch the new balls Mitre enlisted the stars of the Championship to take their individual ball and 'Pass It On' around the league - from Ipswich to Wolverhampton, Hull to Norwich and Crystal Palace to Plymouth.
With the whole Football League behind them, Mitre set off on a 2,000 mile journey around each of the clubs due to take to the field for the 07 / 08 Championship season. Armed with a bag of balls and gifted a representative from each club, 'Pass It On' was filmed during a six week period in the lead up to the big kick-off on August 11th.
Top players and managers went in front of the camera to star in a short clip showcasing their footballing skills or acting ability! For the Eagles it was Peter Taylor, who was filmed at our Beckenham Training Ground dribbling past a couple of players in the changing rooms before dispatching the ball to Phil Brown at Hull City.

The result is a fun packed video that gives fans the perfect way to whet their appetite for the start of the season this weekend.
The new Mitre balls are designed using the club colours and crest of every team in the Championship and provide a colourful alternative to those found in other leagues throughout world football.
