Kiraly Leaves Club
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly has left the club, boss Peter Taylor revealed following the final game of the season at Colchester United on Sunday afternoon.
The Hungarian international did not travel with the squad for the 2-0 win at Layer Road, with his place on the bench taken by Scott Flinders as Julian Speroni continued in the team for the third successive match.
With Kiraly's contract due to expire in July, Taylor revealed that a decision had been made to release the former Hertha Berlin man earlier than normal and wished the 31-year-old all the best for the future.
"Gabor has been freed," revealed Taylor.
"I spoke to Gabor last week and there are a few different things (why he's been released). We've got two goalkeepers on the books now and they are under contract next year and with Gabor being out of contract, I decided to let him go.
"We thank him for his services because he's been excellent in the second half of the season so it was a difficult decision to let him go.
"Julian is looking good and finished the season well and I'm looking for Scott Flinders to come back and really push on."
Taylor added that any decisions regarding the other out of contract players at the club will be taken in the coming week, revealing: "I'm seeing the players on Tuesday."
