Peter Wall guards the near post against Southampton

Clubs: Shrewsbury Town, Wrexham, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Leyton Orient (L)

Peter Wall was a fast and clever full-back who was brought to Selhurst Park by Bert Head to add proven top-flight quality to Palace's defence in their second season in Division One. For two seasons Peter thoroughly demonstrated his value in pretty testing circumstances, then after a long stint on the sidelines due to injury he added some extra quality in the lower leagues.

An intelligent, articulate player, who read the game quickly, Peter was a considerable asset to any Palace side but in the third game of 1972/73 he had the misfortune to break a leg in a tackle with his former Liverpool colleague Tommy Smith. It was a year or more before Peter was able to really able to play again however he overcame the adversity with style and his later career at Palace was during the mid 1970s. Peter played a key role in the 1975/76 season playing in over 50 games and then in the two following seasons he helped the club gain promotion while taking over the captain's armband when Ian Evans was absent.
