Peter Nicholas

Clubs: Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Luton Town, Aberdeen, Chelsea, Watford
International honours: Wales
Caps won at Palace: 17
Peter Nicholas was a magnificent driving, defensive midfield player whose whole-hearted commitment to the club endeared him to every Palace fan.
He was in the Palace Junior team that won, then retained the FA Youth Cup in 1977 and 1978 before becoming a regular in the side that won the Second Division championship in 1978/79 and did so well in the early part of 1979/80.
Arsenal paid a bargain £500,000 for Peter in March 1981 after the club's return to the top-flight had gone sour but he came back to Selhurst Park in October 1983 and his tenacious and skilful experience was a key reason for the club's Second Division survival in a difficult season. Palace secured his full registration in the following close-season but Peter was anxious to be on the move again in the winter of 1984/85 and, to the great regret of all Palace fans, First Division Luton Town signed him for £15,000.
Peter is one of few Palace players to have gained over 10 caps while registered with the club and Eagles fans have always held him in great affection as well as respect.
