Len Choules

Clubs: Sutton United, Crystal Palace, Romford
Len Choules was always one of Palace's unsung heroes yet his appearance record for the club has only ever been beaten by 18 other men.
Len was one of the best defenders in Division Three South during his time in SE25 but he was a talented player who was capable of filling a number of other positions. He possessed the amazing ability of being able to hang in the air for a fraction of a second allowing him to obtain greater power and direction with his head.
With his aerial ability Len made a fine central pivot though he began as a full-back and appeared in every defensive position for the club. Len actually started his career as a striker and on occasions was asked to fill that role again for the Eagles, scoring against Gillingham in October 1953.
