Paul Barron

Clubs: Plymouth Argyle, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City (L), Queens Park Rangers, Reading (L)
Tall and athletic, Paul Barron was a capable top-flight goalkeeper who joined Palace in the transfer that also brought Clive Allen from Arsenal and saw Kenny Sansom move in the opposite direction. Rated at £400,000 Paul had the difficult task of playing behind a constantly changing team that increasingly lost it's way before facing relegation.
Much more indicative of Paul's talents was when he was virtually without a challenger for Palace's Player of the Year award for the 1981/82 season after missing only two matches in the entire campaign. To a man Palace supporters were sorry when Paul left just before Christmas 1982 in a sudden move to West Bromwich Albion.
