A Sun drenched Sunday at Selhurst Park saw the Annual CPFC Corporate Six-A-Side Tournament take place on the hallowed turf of SE25.

As the sixteen squads arrived at registration early on Sunday morning, the sun was already beating down on Selhurst Park, with tales of the previous day's Play-Off Semi-Final being discussed over breakfast, our players were looking forward to taking part in the morning's Group stages of the tournament.

The Group matches were hard fought but after the round robin stages had been completed on the four pitches stretching across the stadium we had our eight Quarter Finalists ready to do battle in the knockout stages after the lunch interval.

By the time the Semi-Final's were due to kick off at around 2pm the stadium was a cauldron of heat with temperatures close to 30 degrees pitch side, but this did not deter our Semi-finalists who fought tooth and nail to make it through to the Grand Final.

The Final match took centre stage at 2.45pm with teams representing Fieldmans and Travis Perkins going head to head for the CPFC Trophy. The match was witnessed by Palace first team regulars Lee Hills and Sean Scannell who were impressed with the skill and commitment of the two teams on show. The Final itself was a tight affair with neither side wanting to give too much away and after another hard fought 20 minutes the scores were level and the Final was to be decided by an additional 10 minutes extra time followed by sudden death penalties.

Thankfully the title was decided by a fine Fieldmans strike in extra time sending the players and spectators of the flooring company through the roof and leaving the Builders Merchants of Travis Perkins runners up and looking to build for the future.
