Over the past few months Croydon Council has received a large number of complaints from residents in and around the Selhurst area regarding illegal parking on matchdays. The illegal activity includes parking on pavements, obstructing footway access and the blockage of residents' driveways. This type of parking causes considerable inconvenience to residents and is affectively a road safety hazard.

In light of recent comments, the Council is to increase the presence of parking enforcement staff around Selhurst Park to deal with issues of illegal parking, especially during matchdays. The Council will issue leaflets on vehicles that are parked illegally for the first match of the season. This warning will be the final, and thereafter, vehicles will be issued with penalty charge notices and might be removed into the Council's Vehicle Pound.
